Hi, When I try to download sp1a updates for XP Pro I get an error message telling me my key code is no good. That this disk might be a bootleg disk or have other problems.

Just after I got this software I broke the disk case and replaced it with a new one. On the new case I put a label sticker and wrote the 25 diget key code on it and now I guess I wrote down the wrong letters/numbers and when I try to reinstall the XP Pro in my PC, after my dumbbutt move that formated my hd, I can't download the sp1a updates......

Can this disk be saved or do I need to buy another new one??

    Help!

edited; this is the message I get from Microsoft.

I had a problem with registering XP home edition and found out that the letters were case sensitive. Go Figure.

So if you can't register your software you will have to use other means. (Don't ask)

Or call up Microshaft and plead your case.

MS doesn't want to help me with this problem. They said I should contact my supplier...................................

    I didn't know I had a supplier?

I have a XP Home disk that came with this PC, I guess I'll put that back in...

I got ahold of the guy I got the XP Pro disk form and he tells me

"Oh yea, that's a bootleg disk. Didn't I tell you that when I gave it to you?"

So I guess it's back to the XP Home disk....

I just love downloading all of this new stuff....:steamed:
