(Set up now) Weaver 30mm Tactical 6-Hole Weaver-Style Rings Matte Low with (front) Weaver Top-Mount Scope Base #35M & (rear) Weaver Top-Mount Scope Base #36M
I bought an EGW one piece tactical rail and it was awful. It brought my scope like over a 1/4 of an inch in the front & back (http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=147936).
I really din't like it my chick even didn't rest on the stock. This rail is to high even with low rings.

If this is the one that adds 20 MOA of elevation, then it's understandable. They HAVE to jack-up the entire scope base a bit, so they can angle the scope mounting surface downward 20 MOA without forcing the objective bell against the barrel (on scopes with larger objective bells than yours). This means the rear of the scope ends up WAY up in the air. The higher mounting surface also makes single-loading through the port easier, as it allows more room for gloved fingers and such.

If this model base does NOT add the 20 MOA of elevation, then I agree that it is a bit overdone.

Installing a cheek-piece to raise your face in relation to the scope would take care of the problem, but it will take some time to get used to it.
