I know it's a little close to Christmas, but here's my recipe for eggnog.

    12 Eggs
    1½ Cups Sugar
    ½ tsp Salt
    1qrt Heavy Cream
    1qrt Whole Milk
    1tsp Nutmeg
    ½ tsp Ground Cinnamon
    1pt Whiskey (Optional)
    1cup Spiced Rum (Optional)

Separate the eggs whites and yokes
In one bowl beat until stiff 12 egg whites and ½ cup sugar
In a separate bowl mix the 12 egg yokes, 1 cup sugar, and the salt

    Combine the two egg mixtures

Using one of the above bowls (clean of course) add the heavy cream and beat until frothy
Add the milk and mix gently
Now add the whiskey and mix toughly
Mix in the nutmeg and cinnamon
    Stir in the rum

Fold in the cream/milk mix to the egg mix and gently mix

This should be made a week before you need it to let it “mellow”, but if you can’t wait…

DaReaper, we tried a recipe very similar to this. Man it was GREAT! Also Egg Nog is "expensive" as I bought 2 quarts of it and it ran me over $6.00 for the half gallon. For about the same price in ingredients, you'll get almost two gallons. Tastes much better too.

    Booze optional?

My dad used to make it- the neighborhood waited for his yearly Christmas gift.

I was at a Christmas party and some friends made some healthy egg nog. It was made with egg beaters and soy milk. ;g

No eggnog for me. Gives me the screaming you-know-whats. :(

I remember when 31 Flavors used to feature eggnogg ice cream every December. Do they still do that?

Eggnog was originally "egg and grog", so you can't leave out the rum and call it eggnog.

Grog is rum and water. Here is some history on grog.

My dad used to make "Tom and Jerrys", as kids we got the boozeless stuff. This year my 5 year old daughter drank Egg nog with me. I will find the recipe for T and Js!!
