Please bear with me... Preliminary facts: I am looking to place an order for a 1911 in the not so distant future. I have owned a few "quality" production 1911's but sold them in my younger, dumber, and less financially stable days. This one will be a keeper. No safe queen. A Tool residing on my belt ready to protect me and my loved ones should that unfortunate time ever come (hopefully it doesn't). I have already decided on the specs of the gun as far as finish, checkering, sights etc... and I already know Brown and Springer's Custom Shop will all accommodate those specs. Wait time notwithstanding, who should I go with and why? Hopefully those responding will have ample experience with both. I will be unable to fondle either brand before placing my order.

Basically the specs are as follows: Blued, full size, 45 acp, 10-8 rear/Novak gold bead front, checkered and hi-cut front strap and single sided safety. i.e. a SACS Custom Carry or an EB EE in the aforementioned dress.

Is it a coin toss? Thanks for any help.

Thanks bac, I know you have both so I was looking for your opinion to show up. Care to elaborate? I know EB's customer service history isn't perfect but neither is Springfield's. Considering both guns can be spec'd out the exact same way, what am I getting from SACS that the EB wont?

I'd definately choose a SA CC over the EB EE, between those two.

I just prefer the fitting and feel of SACS. To me, they build a better gun. I'd take my TGO1 over any Brown, including the Classic Custom.

I really appreciate the help guys. Nice thing about the SACS is you have to order it and wait for it... so generally only the folks that really want and appreciate one end up with one. And I guess the ~year long backlog shows they're still sellin pistols, even with the wait. Feel free to suggest someone else in the sub $2500 range, should you deem them better than any of the above stated.

I'd look at a Gun Crafter Industries No Name as well.

Another great choice, but Alex doesn't deviate too much from his standard build.

I would probably take the Guncrafter over either. Everyone just RAVES about them, and the quality is right there....plus only a 3-4 month wait. Alex builds top notch stuff.

I would say better than one of the two.... Baer....just one dang fine pistol that is accurate, reliable, and looks nice.

I have a Pro and a Heinie /SACS that are both beautifully put together and an EB Exec Elite. I'd say coin toss. The SACS guns feel somehow more solid, but that could be the tactile things like the aggressive checkering...the EB sits a bit more comfortably in my hand perhaps as its a little higher cut under the trigger and grip safety...I can't imagine you being disappointed either way...
But...I'd be hugely tempted to go Guncrafter. Aside from the gold bead front which Alex would probably fit for you, and the blued finish, (melonite instead), the Guncrafter NN has what you're looking for....

I really love my no name, but it is the only "semi-custom" that I own

The no name looks awesome. I will admit to not having called Guncrafters because of what I've read online regarding their approach to their product's finish. I just, plain and simple, don't want anything but bluing. Great looking guns but when I can find exactly what I want with EB or SACS and not have to beg or pay a bunch extra because a shop doesn't usually offer the service, I'll just pass.

SACS for me...if you want a naked slide, then you'd have to go with Brown.

I was a party with one of those once, but the girls were not only brown but white too.

You obviously spent those comedy lesson funds on ammo or something
