Can anyone tell me what ways the CCO would be an improvement over a series 1 compact cdp other than the obvious exterior finish differences?

I can't get the CCO out of my head for some reason and am trying to figure out how it would compare to a series 1 compact cdp (forgetting the possible price differences)

    Thanks.

I'd be perfectly happy w' a pre-II CDP Compact, and if it has proven to be a known performer, I'd have little to no interest in the admittedly beautiful newcomer, at least until there's something of a track record for the DW CCO. All of this is under the assumption of a ccw/defensive piece.

    I collect CCO's.

The DW has a rounded MSH. The Kimber does not.

The DW is a MIM free gun. The Kimber is full of MIM.

The DW uses a Alloy MSH. The Kimber uses plastic which is why it weighs less.

The DW is a 4.25 bushing barrel. The Kimber is a 4 inch bull barrel.

The DW has a single sided thumb safety. The Kimber is ambi.

The DW has Chainlink. The Kimber is more traditional checkering.

THe DW has a ramped barrel. The Kimber a non ramped.

The DW is "dehorned". The Kimber has a mild "soap bar" treatment.

The DW has Trijicon NS. the Kimber has Metro's

That is about it for the highlighted differences.

Sounds correct. The most notable IMO is the bull barrel vs the bushing setup. I am a bushing fan, but have to admit the bull setup may actually be preferable on an alloy frame/shorter barrel ccw piece. That is the same setup my Wilson Protector had, and it works very well.

    Thanks Cesar.

Well, I sold the kimber I just recently aquired and am on the look for a CCO to replace it. I thought I was going to buy one from Whittaker Guns for $1,189 as they advertise on their sight, but they are sold out.

Anywhere else to get similar pricing and find it in stock?

No I don't. Whittakers has good prices. The only way now is to search the net. Gunbroker has two.

Rememeber there is only going to be 200 of these models made. Then in 2010 DW is making the CCO with an Ionbond like finish and the price is going up several hundred dollars.

Thanks, I had already checked the info you PM'd me. :)

I guess I should have bought one from Whittakers before I sold the Kimber. I'm not sure I want to pay the price of the ones on gunbroker either, so I'm still looking around.

You won't be sorry if you do. They are VERY nice pieces for the money.

Forgot to update, but I have one on the way. Saved a few bucks over gunbroker, but not as much as Whittakers would have been. Either way, I'm excited to get it and compare. Thanks.
