Ok I love the S&W model 639 it was my first duty auto followed by a Combat Commander worked by Hoag..
This new 9mm DW guardian looks to be an excellent carry piece.

Has anyone had experience with the 9mm bobbed Dan Wessons?
I have a 45acp pre CZ cbob that had to go back after break in to get it working right, I'm not thrilled about sending new guns back on my dime .. Is the new guardian a decent 9mm 1911???

    Good luck!

They are an awesome 1911! Kinda pricey, but you definitely get quality for your money. I think the main reason I dont own one as of yet is basically because they are almost LB money and personally I'd rather have one of those of the DW, but thats just my opinion. LB doesnt make a bobtail though

to put in perspective...if you bought a STI Ranger II in 9mm ($999), then had it bobtailed (~$250) then refinished (~$250) you have the price of the Guardian ;)

I'd like to see a Brian comparison of those two. Yes, I know it will never happen. I think I would probably opt for the steel STI bob'd for about the same money.

I was looking at the new DW catalog and the Guardian is coming in .45, and I would love to have one but those prices are getting up there aren't they?

That was purely hypathetical for the purposes of this thread. If I was rollin' in chedda like you, I'd buy both. I'm not getting the STI and to be honest, I would probably get an EMP and either send it to J Harrison or SACS before either.

A SW1911 ES, their little CCO, was on the short end of my to get list until I found this: [IMG]

With a P228, a couple of P35s, and a good supply of 9mm it seemed like a no brainer to me.

I have 8 railed 1911's in my office for testing for our new SWAT duty gun. the STI did not make the cut I am frankly not impressed with the QC at this time.
