Bought two boxes of DT's 180g. Nosler JHP in nickeled cases.

Claimed velocity is 1305FPS (at the muzzle, most likely) with a 4.6" barrel. Actual was only 1207FPS average at 10', WAY low.

Shot two bullets into waterjugs and recovered portions of one, just the jacket base and another fragment; the core escaped.

I won't be using THESE as my PD loads!

A quick search would have quickly uncovered their fps claims being WAY off. Sorry you had to find out the hardway. I've got a box of 165 grain that I'm going to use as a paper weight.

Yeah, I had even more disappointing results with their 200gr WFNGC load. They advertise 1300fps from a 4.6" barrel, but I only got 1215fps from my 6" barrel. That's over 200fps slower than advertised, considering the performance it should have gotten in an extended barrel. I'm surprised you didn't see any of the posts about this when you were posting a lot here.

I thought you gave up on 10mm?

I have bought alot of DT but won't be buying anymore. I too was disapointed in the velosity. I got 1173fps from my 180gr Bonded Defense(which has been my edc load for a year)It was replaced with your nosler. I got 1145fps from the 200gr WFNDC, out of a G20sf:crying:

I saw and bought two boxes when I bought the new 20SF. I needed something to shoot, and they seemed a good bargain. Oh well...

I did give up on the 20SF a year or so ago, deciding that the grip size was just too big for my apparently smallish hands. But I've recently researched grip reductions and decided to restart my Big10 'career'.

    Here's the last one...
...and I have another of those LW 5.15"ers ordered.

Dt is what convinced me to hand load. I got some with my 20sf purchase then read about them here. I didn't shoot any more of them since then. I didn't use the rest of them as is. I pulled the bullet and made them better
  7. Buffalo Bore or Underwood is about all that's left

Years ago, I was carrying DoubleTaps when they used Gold Dot bullets and delivered the advertised velocity. My last batch of 10 mm 180 gr and 357 mag 125 gr and 158 gr and 40 S&W 180 gr were very low in velocity. 10 mm 165 gr and 40 S&W 165 were both about 75 ft/s low. 380's advertised at 975 from an LCP were the closest with a muzzle velocity of 956.

For the price of 1000rds of DT, you can buy a progressive press and components and then load a 500-1000rds.
  11. Dude, you ought to get out and post more often.

Nice avatar, by the way.

Yep, DT is not what it used to be. I picked up 1 box of the 180g in order to have ammo on hand for hunting season. The rounds show a lot of primer deformation when fired, but no case signs of excessive pressure. Oh well, at least I can thank Mr.McNett for pushing me off the fence and into reloading.

I'll give you $10 for that paperweight. :whistling:

As far as grip reductions.... <this is where you need to go.

    He did mine.

    And finally, look here

About half the price of DT. He's also going to be offering Gold Dots when he receives the bullets.
