I read an article about select-fire 1911s in Small Arms Review, and Dillinger's guns were mentioned. The article also mentioned that similar conversions were being done in Cebu.

    wow, cebu?
i hope someone can describe how this works, i know if your trigger job is very light your gun might shoot doubles but thats another thing

  4. The writer of that article is J.M. Ramos, a Pinoy-American. I got that particular issue. He wrote a lot about his experience growing up with guns in the Philippines (who else would mention a "pistolized" carbine?).

I haven't encountered FA 1911s in Cebu, but they're out there for sure, Cebu smiths are reputed to be capable of turning any semiauto into full autos.

Yup, that's the one. From what I remember there was a sliding latch that somehow interfered with the disconnector cutout at the bottom of the slide. Moving the slide to one position gave semi-auto operation while the other position gave full-auto fire.

Dillinger wanted a .38 Super because the round could penetrate vehicles and body armor during that time with ease.

Yeah, but then it won't go semi. Just go with the modern equivalent; the FSSG.

There are plenty of photos of some the screen-used guns in the movie at the above link, including the FA Colt, which only gets a few seconds screentime...
