Romney has had a close, long-standing, personal and business connection with Marriott International and its founders. He served as a member of the Marriott board of directors for many years. From 1993 to 1998, Romney was the head of the audit committee of the Marriott board.
During that period, Marriott engaged in a series of complex and high-profile maneuvers, including "Son of Boss," a notoriously abusive prepackaged tax shelter that investment banks and accounting firms marketed to corporations such as Marriott. In this respect, Marriott was in the vanguard of a then-emerging corporate tax shelter bubble that substantially undermined the entire corporate tax system.
Son of Boss and its related shelters represented perhaps the largest tax avoidance scheme in history, costing the U.S. many billions in lost corporate tax revenues. In response, the government initiated legal challenges that resulted in complete disallowance of the losses claimed by Marriott and other corporations.

Did you have a dispute with something in the article? Some inaccuracy perchance? Do tell.

    I did.

    1) It's an opinion piece, not a report and certainly not a vetted work.

    2) It relies on the absence of evidence to smear via innuendo: If only, if oooonly Romney had released tax returns that he isn't required to, we might see that he followed the law that is so unfair.

    3) It lies by omission (as do certain posters here), using IRS action against others to suggest guilt on Romney's part. And it fails to mention the time frames involved with the changing world of regulations.

    You're a desperate little fellow, aren't you?

I am now convinced! Romney is a bad man! I'm voting for the communist who has done such a good job these last 4 years!

Wait a second... F & F, green jobs, loss of liberty, Benghazi... but Romney may have done something wrong, so I'll vote for the communist! Besides that Romney is a Mormon, and I'm too open minded to vote for a Mormon!

Did you? It's an op piece...that's opinion.

You are entitled to your short bus ride to school each day, Flintlocker; but you're not entitled to your own facts.

even if completely true, so what? all tax's "paid" by a corporation just get piled onto the cost of whatever the product is. so whatever tax shelter they get would be close to saving money for the consumer.

and even if they just kept the extra, again so what? people have a choice about what they buy. company's exist to make money. not to fund government.
