I am looking for suggestions for desktop publishing applications to publish a booklet. I have written a 80 page document using Word. I have it laid out with two columns on a landscape 8.5"X11" page. So page 1 of the Word document contains the first two pages (each 8.5" X 5.5") of the actual booklet.

Although I have been able to do the bulk of the development, I have problems with things like adding page numbers to the booklet pages since they reside two per word document page.

Further, reproducing it becomes a problem since re-ordering booklet pages for production proposes becomes difficult.

Anyway, I suspect I need a more robust document/publishing program that I can layout each 8.5" X 5.5" booklet page individually and then have lots of flexibility on how the pages are printed. For example, two per 8.5" X 11" page and in an order that facilitates production.

    Suggestions welcome!

I love Adobe Indesign. I've been using it and PageMaker for about 8 years.

I'm using ID for my book. Very easy to learn the basics.

    Truly professional level software.

Integrates easily with Adobe PDF and Photoshop.
