Cincinnati begins deer hunt in city park Associated Press CINCINNATI—The deer population in Cincinnati's biggest park has grown so big that police have started shooting deer and giving the meat to homeless shelters. People who live near the city's 1,400-acre Mount Airy Forest have complained that deer are destroying landscaping, and police also have noted an increase in deer-related car accidents, including one last week involving a police cruiser. Officials say the park could accommodate a herd of about 100 deer. But a survey by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources estimated the herd at more than 1,000. Hamilton County had the most deer-vehicle wrecks in the state last year with 717 reported.
