can't afford any optics at this point, so I figured 5 more pmags and a 1000rnds of .223 was a better option

Not that you made the wrong choice, but the $500 you spent would go a long way toward optics...which one is destined for that bad lad?

An aimpoint Comp4 would be my first choice, but it was out of my range. The case of ammo was a must, I'd rather become proficient with irons and trust in my usage of the rifle in a needed situation, then have $700 worth of glass that i've only shot 100rds with.

With that said though, the aimpoint T1's have caught my eye lately, and they are markedly cheaper than the M4's.

Not an eoTech fan, just never have been.

I'm also a very avid believer in irons. Hopefully my next rifle will be an m1a, and irons is all I'll have there.

    nice rifles.

OP - good on ya for choosing a reasonable setup and shooting it before making all kinds of changes. You'll figure out what (if anything) you want to add/change, and the best way to do that is to shoot it and carry it around for a while. Apparently, you already knew that. If this is your first, though, your good choices are even better.
