So I got one of these and now I can't figure out how it's supposed to go around my mil spec buffer tube. I'm guessing I got the wrong part?

Remove the stock, remove the buffer tube.
Install the plate, install the buffer tube, install the stock.

It seems like the wrong diameter though. The threads from the buffer tube won't fit through it. Or maybe I'm wrong. Trying to have a sling set up on the rear of the receiver and have a CTR or similar collapsible stock. Does this piece only work with a certain stock?

It only fits A1 and A2 type fixed stocks. From the product page on the Daniel Defense website:

"Designed for any AR15 using an A1 solid buttstock, the A1 Burnsed Loop™ provides an 1.25″ near receiver sling loop for attaching a single point tactical sling. "

I'm a dummy for not doing my homework. Clerk at the store said "yup! That's what you need!" When I said I wanna have a sling set up with my collapsible stock. Oops. Hope they let me take it back even though its open
