I have a CZ 97BD that is an absolute tack driver. The price of the CZ was $735.00

How much will I need to spend on a 1911 that will match the accuracy of the CZ ?

I've always had an interest in the CZ 97 pistols... Aren't they pretty fat in the grip?

No, it is very comparable to a Beretta 92FS. I like it a lot.

One big reason I hesitate about getting another 1911, is because the grip feels too small and narrow.

My favorite grip is my Sig P220, it feels like it was custom built for my hand.

That was my first impression when I handled Quack's new CZ at the range last week. She's a fat girl.

Just about any 1911 should be AS accurate if not more. CZs are great guns but those were too big and bulky for me. I'd never pay $700 for one either, you can find those all day long for $500ish around here.

A 97BD with night sights for $500.00? Where is around here?

That's not what I said.... and around here is close. Either way, a reasonably well built 1911 will out perform that particular gun. The DA is atrocious on those things.

The '97 is definitely a gun for big hands, but they are shooters.
That said, my Kimber Cust II is easily a match for the CZ 97 I had, and has a better SA trigger.....the DA trigger was useless to me.
The 97 was also 'flippier' than the Kimber.
I liked the 97, even got Hakan to make a set of grip panels for it...but I like the 1911 better. It's as accurate, easier to control and more reliable. CZ's grace is in their 9mm pistols, IMO.

There is nothing wrong with the SA trigger pull on my 97BD.

CZs are extremely accurate. In capable hands, certainly capable of sub 2 inch groups at 25 yards.
What $600 1911 is capable of that?

A plastic main spring housing and a plastic Trigger.

    No Thanks.

Never said there was. My 97 had a good SA pull with a some stacking where the sear disengaged and the hammer would roll back slightly. The Kimber's is only a little lighter but more crisp. About 400% quicker reset too.
I shot some very good 25yrd groups with it, but I also got more 4+1 groups from it than any other gun I've had.
I also didn't like the super thin section of metal between the spring tunnel and bbl bushing, which cracked on a number of guns...hopefully they fixed that.

Just about any of the less expensive 1911's tested on the Gunblast website will shoot under 2"
    The Regency (Turkish)
    Cimmarron (Italian?)
    Rem R1
Ruger SP1911 (should retail in the $600 range)

I'd expect the CZ97 would also. Mine did with Blazer alum 230gr, of all things.

I would wager that just about any modern enhanced 1911 will outshoot a CZ 97.

The STI Spartan should have no trouble doing that, actually, and its less money.
