What does everyone think? I have the paperwork underway for a SWR Warlock can and need a bolt gun to run it. Money is kinda tight so I am looking for bang for the buck. I have a line on a nice CZ 455 with beautiful wood for $485, should i bite?

My dad and my brother both have CZ-452s and the rifles are absolutely excellent. That being said, however, my dad also has a 77/22 and it is also excellent. I would get the CZ if I was going to shoot it primarily with the iron sights, and the 77/22 if I was going to 'scope it.

  3. Personally I can't warm up to the CZ rifles. I'm not sure why, maybe it's just because everybody and his brother has one. I know one thing I don't like is those big honking iron sights that everyone else loves. That said they're good rifles, and I'm sure you'd be happy with one.

I however do like the Ruger 77/22, and have since the first time I saw one in Shooting Times, or Guns and Ammo back in the 80's. I wanted one, and finally got one a couple of years ago. It was used, but looks like new. Turns out it was made in 1984, way back when I was looking at them in those gun rags and wishing.

It's a fine looking rifle, and shoots plenty good enough for me.
