I need to review VA laws. I think you have to have the preacher's permission, or a "valid reason" or something. How's this for a "valid reason"?!?!?

    People shoot up churches.....

    Scott

    Found it:

To a place of worship while a meeting for religious purposes is being held at such place, without good and sufficient reason.

Does NOT say anywhere in it WHO decides what is "good and sufficient"

You must have express written permission here in SC, which I obtained a few weeks ago. Always be prepared! Last thing you need is having to use your weapon in God's house and then some lawyer asking you for your letter afterwards...

Yes. Because the ever-tolerant left seems to be growing towards a serious intolerance of Christianity, the fringe on the left seem to have upped their intrusion into churches with homosexual outbursts, hateful rhetoric and attacks. My pastor doesn't carry in the pulpit, so I carry in the congregation and while playing in the praise and worship set. There are a few of us who do in my church. The attacks are why I carry.

I carry in church, while in the pew, and on the stage with the worship team. I prefer to be up-front. It's easier to see what's going on.

    After church conversation questions:
Wasn't that a great sermon from Romans? (Yes, they have been!!)
Was I printing while praising the Lord God Almighty with my trumpet? (Not that I've been told.)

It seems that even within the gun community lots of people have a hard time believing that carrying in church is a good idea. Like church has some magical godly force field over it to protect it.

If you don't believe church is a high priority target and a place where you should definitely be carrying, you are in complete denial.

Yeah I don't understand why people think guns shouldn't be carried in church. It's like they completely ignore all the reports of church shootings. And have you noticed in these church shootings when there are people there carrying the casualty rate is very low? Go figure.

ETA: Luke 22:36 He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

The law does not require written authorization in SC. It would be a good CYA but "express permission" is all that is needed this can be in the form of oral authorization.

    http://www.sled.sc.gov/SCStateGunLaws1.aspx?MenuID=CWP

    SECTION 23-31-215.
    Issuance of permits.
    (M) A permit issued pursuant to this section does not authorize a permit holder to carry a concealable weapon into a (9) church or other established religious sanctuary unless express permission is given by the appropriate church official or governing body;

I like this verse in the context of concealed carry at church, or anywhere else, really.

"For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer." Romans 13:4 (NIV)

Church is the last place I would ever be caught without a gun outside of my home and car.
