Cutting the barrel length down

Discussion in 'Tactical Shotguns' started by DAKA, Mar 24, 2013.

  1. Drop a small stick down the barrel & measure it, that is the barrel length.

It may not have been 2.5' across, but it was enough that the cardboard I was shooting didn't have a hole in it, whereas the other people shooting the stage with regular barrels were blowing holes through.

All depends on the individual gun, ammo, and conditions. My Mossberg 590 is an IC barrel, and Federal #1 low recoil with the Flite Control wad makes one hole out to 15 yards.
  7. This has been covered but almost all the barrels from Remington are 18.5", even if the box is marked 18". Apparently it's just too close and everyone wants that buffer. Slide forward and put a dowel down the bore, that's the BATF measure.
