Crossbreed Style Holster Question for Glocks

I planning on getting a G26 sometime in the future to have another carry option besides my LCR.

I am looking at the crossbreed style, leather+kydex with clips. Found this one thats a bit cheaper and looks very nice.

I also own a G17 so my question is that, can you also carry a G17 in a holster molded for a G26 (and vice-versa)?

I believe the frame and slide length are the only differences between the 17/26. I suppose the 17 slide may stick out a little more of a holster molded for the 26 though and the frame may step outside leather though.

Also these seem very nice for the price with great reviews...

however it doesnt seem they make left handed versions for me!

No experience with those, however crossbreed and comptac MTAC seem to be top of the heap right now. I HAVE owned an MTAC and can tell you it's worth every penny. Adjustable ride height and cant. Dedicated shell for each pistol or I believe they make an open ended one for the glocks and stuff. I had a shell for a 26 and just dremeled the end out, worked perfectly with a 23. Them if you ever want to carry anything other than a glock just buy a shell for it ($35). Same holster....multiple guns

Mtac for all Glocks is what I use and recommend. Replace the kydex body sold separately so you can swap out the holster back and have one holster that does it all really. Very much the best iwb out there IMO.

I prefer Crossbreed, plus the 2 week trial period, if you dont like it send it back only out the shipping cost and the lifetime warranty. The DeSantis costs less but I dont know if they have a warranty or will fix anything that breaks. Here is a good review of the DeSantis. There are many options for holsters from all leather, all kydex, to leather/kydex combos. Sometimes picking/finding the right holster is harder than picking/finding the right gun

  5. It seems like a G26 will fit better into a G17 holster than vice-versa.

It's better to be too long rather than too short, or so it seems.:whistling:

    Short answer:

    Long answer:
If the holster is not designed to fully cover the gun (sometimes called a "slide" holster) then it will fit both. Also, if you buy one for a G17 it will work for the smaller 26 whether it is a "slide" style holster body or not. Personally, I highly recommend that a person NEVER carry in a holster that does not fully cover the gun...the front sight should never "exit the bottom of the holster"...otherwise it is possible to catch the front sight on the bottom of the holster body when you are attempting to draw (very bad thing to have your gun suddenly "stuck" in your holster when you need it out of the holster).

I've got a crossbreed for my 27 (same size as 26) and it does stick out the bottom some. On their site they a size for the full size, compacts, and subcompact so I'm going to say it wouldn't work for one reason or the other. I would recommend the crossbreed though. Think is really comfortable.

I have the Galco King Tuk for a couple of my guns. The one I bought for my 19 is supposed to fit the 17, 19, 26, 22, 23, 27, and 36.

looking more at the foxx holster website rather than the amazon link, it looks like a great deal... $39 shipped is hard to beat

two week trial period, lifetime warranty

i emailed them to ask about what they think of fitting a 17 and 26 to the same holster, possibly the 19 one

    will post the reply

Back in 09 when I bought my holster from Crossbreed they said the G19/17 with fit the G26 holster but because the larger guns in Gen 3 have a rail it would not fit perfectly in the G26 holsters. I bought the one for the G19 and it fits the G26 and G17/G34 (the slide does come down a little past the leather at the bottom).

I think the model for the 26 is a bit shorter than the standard model. I think if you go the other way (order the 17 or 19 model Crossbreed) you should be fine.
The bottom of the holster is open so the barrel sticks out (slightly) either way.

I use the same crossbreed for a 27 that I do for a 22/23. Put a big gun in a crossbreed for a little gun, and it will be uncomfortable, as the leather patch won't be big enough. But a smaller .40 glock in a crossbreed made for a larger one is fine.

My decision came down to Crossbreed and Comp-Tac. I went with Comp-Tac (MTAC) simply because it has a leather lining on the back that covers all the metal hardware. The DeSantis Intruder has a leather back, so I'd think you'd be good to go.

    Just one man's opinion.

Check out the White Hat Holster too while your shopping. I bought one for my G19 and my G26 fits in it very nice also. I haven't tried my G17 in it, don't want anything that heavy inside my waistband. Also, don't count out the Glock Sport Combat holster. Works pretty well if you dress for it. Oh, most important though is a good quality gun belt!
  17. I posted THIS recently in another thread. I highly recommend this Amazing people. Amazing product. Complete customization at little to no charge. Much better than Crossbreed imho.

MTAC is top quality. Great holster. Also they don't have the crosses on the belt clips!

I like the MTAC, Theis and Crossbreed holsters. I have used these holsters for the last 5 years. It would be hard to pick just one but if I had to it would be the MTAC.
