Crossbow Deer Hunting in GA....questions.

Discussion in 'Hunting, Fishing & Camping' started by GeorgeAtl, May 14, 2002.

  1. Does anyone have any experience in Deer Hunting with a crossbow?

A buddy of mine here at the office recently found out that the Georgia law has been modified so you can crossbow hunt at any time in season, or something like that.

How do they handle? What can be the expected range of a Crossbow??

Thanks in advance for your replies.

    Buried in the X-files
I know the old medieval crossbows were deadly out to about 200 yards, and I know the French Foreign Legion (at least up till about five years ago, they may still) used crossbows with scopes (it was a Barnett model I think) for close range quiet sniping (out to about 150m I think they said).

Don't know the laws, but any modern hunting crossbow in the 100lb range or so should do it just fine. But don't miss, as reloading isn't exactly quick!
