How would you find the credentials of a financial planner in your home state? It there an organization that they must join, or would benefit by joining?

Financial advisor has some stuff that they take to get their designations.

    Most common ones are:

    CFP, CSA, CFS.

    If they have insurance license:

    ChFC, CLU.

If they are in analysis side:

    CFA

If the financial planner/advisor do not have those, it is still okay. Some financial advisor literally do not have time to take those exams.
