Colt Gold Cup National Match Serial # Question

Discussion in '1911 Forums' started by Honest John Sparks, Jan 9, 2011.

  1. I have a series 70 GC NM.
In looking up the serial number all in this vintage seem to have NM in the number at the beginning.
    Mine is 13XX2N70.
The slide says Gold Cup and the trigger and rear site match what should be about a 70's vintage run.
Is my research flawed regarding the number or is this thing a parts gun???
Thanks in advance for the help!!!!

Beats me. Call Colt tomorrow and they will tell you when it was made. It is likely from between the time the usual charts run out and 1983 when the S80 came out.

Hard for a Gold Cup to be a parts gun, it would be more trouble than it is worth to fit the wide trigger.
