Seems they have people in the habit of clearing their own tables. Just leave it and force them to hire more people.
No, they won't raise prices, at minimum wages it's peanuts to these franchise owners.
Put many thousands of people to work that need a job.
How did they convince us that we should clear our own tables?

The first time I went to a Wendy's I picked up my tray and started to walk around looking for the rubbish bin. There weren't any. Employees were expected to clean the tables.

Of course that was a long time ago.

Bizarre. Fast food restaurants generally provide food and not table side service.

The same way they convinced most people to scan their own items at checkout.

Eventually it'll all be self serve. Just some fat cat on a cruise somewhere counting his money while the so-called customers pay him to do the work he used to pay people to do.

I don't believe ther are any signs posted saying you MUST clean off your table in any of those restaurants. Since you're a paying customer, it's your prerogative to leave your trash & tray at the table. It will still be cleaned up!

Here in San Antonio I have noticed three separate Jack-in-the-Box "Restaurants" that now have "ATM-style" machines at which you punch in your order on a touch screen, slide card/insert cash, receive receipt, take your own cup, and the only thing the employee needs to do is call out your order number at which time you walk back up to the counter and retrieve your tray.

I think - clearing your own table or not - depends on how you were raised -

If you were raised by trash then you leave your trash behind -

    or maybe

You need to find some way to feel better than someone - anyone - which would not be easy since you are without class - so by making a mess and then just walking away - you can feel better about yourself.

LOOK AT ME - I am so special I don't need to pick up my own trash.

This is common among fast food places in Paris, even McDonalds is set up to serve this way.

I have no comment on your hate the rich rant.

I will say, I prefer to scan my own items. The lines are shorter, I don't have to make small talk with someone and I don't have to deal with my bread being crushed by an inept bagger.

This sounds like the light version of littering as a jobs program, they will have to hire somebody to pick up all the litter.

I always clean the table off when I get up and throw my trash away. I wasn't raised in a barn. YMMV.

I see people throwing cigarette butts out all over the road. Is that what they are trying to do?

While I understand that this is fast food, I as a customer form my opinion of the place the moment I pull up. If it looks unclean in the dining room then I know the kitchen is much worse. I will turn around and walk back out. The idea that it is "fast food" is not an excuse for not hiring someone to keep the dining room clean...the bathrooms clean..ect. That shows me an owner and management that either don't get it or don't care.

The only thing an unclean restaurant attracts are hoodrats and scum, and they alone will not keep you in business. Some people will say that for these places to compete they can't afford to hire the extra help. I say for you to stay in business you can't afford not to. Most customers won't complain to management, they just won't come back. As the old saying goes "You don't get a second chance to make a first impression".

I would rather scan my own items than deal with some minimum-wage register monkey. That fat cat earned every dollar and I'm happy for him.

There's no signs saying you can't take a dump on the floor either. Some things are just common courtesy.

I agree. It's not that big of a deal to pick up your own trash at a fast food restaurant. If you want to be waited on and have someone else clear your table, then you shouln't be eating at a fast food place.
