How easy is it to change out a bead sighting system to something a little more accurate on a Remington 870 Police Magnum?

Is it something that a gunsmith need to do?

No it is not. The bead sight is pressed in so it would have to be cut off then drilled and tapped. One option is install an XS big dot sight. this sight simply glues over the front bead and is formed to fit the Remington base.

If you want rifle sights then the easy fix is get a barrel with rifle sights. The 18.5" police, I/c choke rifle sight barrel can be had for $136 and the Modified or I/C for around $148.
