I thought I posted this question yesterday, but can't find it now. If I duplicated the post, I apologize.

I have ordered a fiber optic front sight for my new Gen 4 G17. But when I field stripped the gun, I don't see how to replace the front sight. Can it be done on Gen 4 models? Would someone tell me how? (Can't believe changing the front sight can be too difficult.)

    Thanks.

If you have a plastic front sight you simply rip it out.
If you have a metal front sight, it will be attached by a screw (unscrew it) or swedged (smashed base) grind it out.

Feel free to post a pic

    Thank you for your response.

The sights on this Gen 4 G17 are stock plastic. So if I rip out the plastic front sight with a pair of pliers, I can just push the replacement fiber optic front sight into the hole in the top of the slide that will now be exposed?

(I won't be able to post a picture until I get home Friday night.)

Yes, the front sight hole will be exposed. Insert the new sight base in the hole. Flip the slide over and attach the sight using the supplied screw
