My wife is planning to get a new phone because the 500 number internal memory of her current phone is already full. Are there any phones out there in the P15-17,000 price range that can store thousands of phone numbers? Also, it would help if the phone were not on the techie side, as she prefers uncomplicated devices (so much for the Smart Amazing Phone). Bluetooth or IR connectivity is also good (for me, since I'll be the one backing up her data).

I had my eyes set on the Sony Ericsson K700i, but it still costs P19,000 here in the province. Is it significantly cheaper there in QC? The Nokia 3660 would have been okay, but its a tad large ... something smaller maybe. Help.

  2. I believe any phone with expandable memory capability would suit you well, as storage is limited only by the memory capacity of the SD/MMC card you have installed pwedeng umabot ng 256MB ang kayang ma-store (P3k++ nga lang yung card). I think these would be Nokia's 6600, 7210 & 6230, Sony E's e700, Samsung E720 yata yun (slide up, pero ang mahal!)

Nasa 17K na lang yata ngayon ang 6600, doon sa Cyberzone sa megamall ko nakita. Medyo mahal pa yung 6230 (like mine) at e700. Masarap ding mag-hunting ng celfone, parang baril din.

    Happy hunting! ;)

If gray market(limited or no warranty, available at greenhills, goldcrest etc.) units are okay with you the SE K700i now retails at greenhills for 17,000 while the Nokia 6600 is now down to 14,500 and would be within your specified budget. Even though its against common sense to buy at those places because of the amounts involved without the usual guarantees, I always buy my cellphones there and I've never had problems yet(knock on wood):)

  7. The new Treo 650 (an improvement on the present Treo 600 combination PDA-cellphone)should be out in the States by November. Then of course, the price drops a lot after 6 months or a year so maybe for this model you'd want to wait.

If you're the type of person who uses both a cellphone and a PDA (these days, both are necessary) , consider the Treo, so that you just have to carry one thing.

    Mikey,

Since its for your wife, here are my suggestions:

    1. 6600 - Though its an "old" model by now, pound for pound its one of the better phones nokia made

    2. 6230 - same as 6600 but smaller and more expensive, around 23k i think

    3. k700i is ok but if your wife is a nokia user, she might have a hard time on navigation

i highly recommend buying from authorized dealers for warranty purposes. semicon or memo xpress at mega mall are reliable dealers.

hehehe..blame it on the pinoy's flair for style!

in 1997, i went to the US. pagers were still in vogue then and my cousins there couldn't believe that i was using a motorola advisor (4-liner) and getting alphanumeric messages. doon daw, numeric paging, oks na. at that time, ginagawang nobela ng pinoy ang mga pagers;i

Thanks for the good suggestions, guys. Yes, my wife is more at ease with the Nokia so I guess I'm headed down that street. Will do some further research on the models you mentioned.

Actually, I had though about the 6600, but I felt it was a bit too large for my wife's already overflowing bag. Grabe, from antibiotics to prescription pads to LED lights, my wife has it in her bag, which gets heavier every day. That's why I was looking for a small but capable phone that won't add too much to the weight and bulk of her handbag ;Q
