My CD-ROM drive on my computer won't read the Discs anymore. Also It used to rattle real loud like you could hear it spinning when I started the computer. It won't do that either. Is there something simple that I could do or check to hook it back up? I appreciate the help.

Look in "My Computer" and see if a CD drive is listed. In Windows XP click, Start>My Computer.

Yes a drive is listed. But when I put a CD in it, nothing happens. no spinning noise, no rattling, nothing. When I click on the CD drive Icon while a CD is in the drive, it says "Please insert disk into drive D." Anything I can do to remedy this?

Some CD drives lose the fireware. It often gets corrupted or "flushed".If you can find the proper firmware for your CD drive you could try flashing it.

Do you know the brand name and model number of your CD drive?
