  1. Well it has taken a while but my CCP as been approved. The saga begins. I live in Guilford County and this is the process for concealed carry permits, I know some counties are easier does anyone have a longer process? Passed the cc class and then called for an APPOINTMENT to apply for a permit, the next time I could apply was 60 days out just to do the paper work! Paper work done 9/26/07. Today 11/28/07 I called and I have been approved the permit has been ORDERED and as soon as the sheriff has signed it they will call me. So that's 60 days to get an appointment to do the paper work, 60 days to check me out and probably a week for the sheriff to get around to signing it. I was told when I did the paperwork to figure 75 days so I guess they were about right. What's your story.

I am in Guilford County also. I finished the class on 10/23. On 10/24 I called to get an appointment. I got the next one open which is in January. A friend in Forsyth County got his class finished and went to the sheriff's office the next day and did paper work. About 8 weeks later he had his permit. So it took him 2 months and it will take me 5-6 months. I like BJ Barnes but this is a little long. There is nothing I can do about it but wait.

  3. Sheriffs office called today 12/05/07 my permit is ready to be picked up 69 days after I applied, 129 days after I called for an appointment. It's ready 6 days sooner than they promised I must have been a really good boy.

First, congrats on acquiring your CCP. It is well worth the wait. Don't let it expire or you will have it to over again.

Yep, some counties deserve a "failure to do right" penalty.

In Onslow County, I think there is one day out of the week you can apply, from 2-7pm. If you have all your documents in order, you just wait to apply on that day. I think it is Wednesday, but I don't remember. I had to wait a while longer to apply, because I was waiting on police checks from counties in Illinois and California, but once I turned in my package, I was told two weeks. I think I got it in three. Or I was told three and got it in four. Something like that.
