Are there any negatives to using the ccleaner? Just wondereing what the good and bad are. What exactly does it do? Is it he same as the adware and spybot removers? Thank you.

No negatives found here so far, BUT it is not an adware/spyware tool

It just cleans up your surfing tracks ,temp files, log files etc. and is also a pretty safe registry cleanup tool.

I have the latest version (1.20.0118)running on startup and it has been trouble free on my boxes

Ccleaner is a fairly safe one.You might lose some saved passwords if you save them on your PC.Some other cleaners have broken programs such as Microsoft Office and CD writing software.I haven't had that problem with Ccleaner.

I get nervous anytime things start messing with my registry.

Nevertheless, my PC was getting sluggish and I figured it needed a purgative; so a few weeks ago I downloaded ccleaner and ran only the part that cleans up your regestry. It made a backup first.

You don't need ccleaner to delete cookies and temp files.

After it was finished, I rebooted and had some problem (can't remember what.)

I booted in safe mode and ran the restore regestry thing. It gave me some kind of error message.

    Now I'm getting panicky.

I kicked myself a few times and finally got everything back to where I started and vowed to leave the danged registry alone from now on.
