    Mas,

Do you know if there is any data out there related to incidents with those that CC or OC? Just curious if there are more reported crimes against, arrests, shootings etc. of one group over another. Also curious if there are scenarios where you will carry one way vs. another. I carry open when I hunt, but never go into any of the stores I visit with an open holstered gun because I'm concerned that it will make the owners or other patrons nervous, not worth the drama for me. I also CC because I'd rather not have anyone know that I'm armed, If things ever go sideways I'd prefer to have some element of surprise. Thanks so much for all the advice in this forum!

No empirical data base on the issue of which I am aware. Sounds as if you have a good handle on it.

    best,

    Thanks Mas,

Are there scenarios where you carry CC vs. OC? Just curious about when you feel one or the other may be more appropriate.

Personally, I OC at home and on my own property...at most ranges and matches...and at SOME police conventions and training seminars depending on the given venue's rules, or in the police station, there with the shield clipped to the belt in front of the gun. I will OCCASIONALLY open carry in public without the badge in jurisdictions where it is legal, just to see if the general public's response to the practice has changed any. (It hasn't, in my experience.)

Most of the time, in plainclothes in public, my guns will be concealed.

    FWIW,
    Mas
