    My Caspian 10mm build.
Almost finished, just need to clean up the slide stop
and thumb safety a little better. I was looking at a
Fusion, but after reading about some of problems, I
decided to build it myself instead!

Very nice. Can you tell us the build specs and the cost of parts?

More than just buying something decent.

    Sad, but true.

The only way its a win, is if what you REALLY want isnt available.

Or you know that you could have bought something quality for the $, and just felt like building one for your own amusement.

Wow! Very sharp. And a 10mm to boot. Congrats!

  7. I was going to go the same route.

The frame with checkering and the plunger tube was close to 500. That's a stripped frame. No trigger group, hammer, MSH or grip safety.

By the time it would have been finished, I could have bought a STI Ranger ll in 40 and had money left over to get a 10mm barrel and still have money left over.

I've got about $1300-$1400 in it.
    Specs:
Caspian basic frame SS (they fitted to the slide & did the
Tungsten Carbide treatment to the rails)
    Caspian commander slide SS
Most of the small parts are Ed Brown or EGW
    Trigger is a Nighthawk
    Schuemann ramped barrel
    XS night sights
Larry Davidson made the G10 grips

Sure I could have gotten something really nice for that money,
but I really enjoy building them... Now I just need to get out
    and shoot it!

Can't get any more satisfaction than building something yourself. Congratulations.

  11. The satisfaction of rolling your own out weights the equivalent cost of purchasing one from a manufacturer.

Good decision between the build alternatives you mentioned.

Looks great and nice specs. I also have a Commander length 1911 in 10mm. If yours is anything like mine, you'll find that platform and caliber is a great combination. There's plenty of 10mm ammo out there that shoots with authority out of a 4.25" barrel.

Looking forward to a range report.

Looks awesome. And building one is much cooler than buying one! I'd be damn proud if I put that together.
