OK, I admit, I'm a simpleton when it comes to building computers. If the case isn't plain black or white, w/o a silly side window.. its probably not going to appeal much to me... but this...

I've had a friend ask me why I don't use a case w/ a side window, because I'm a neat freak when it comes to wiring. Zip ties are a beautiful thing. :)

I build plain box systems but a few years ago at a computer show I saw a case.
It was sliver base metal flake black with a door over the optical bays and it had a devil's head and the eyes flashed red when the HD was accessed. It had a window in the side and it was just so cool.

I bought the stupid thing then spent the next 4 months building up a real benchmark buster system. I usually just run Linux but I dual booted XP because some of the other engineers around here built systems too and we tested them with, among other things, Sisoft Sandra. The other guys are software people, I'm hardware and I kicked butt.

But then I found that the fun was in building and tweaking the system. I didn't really have a use for it and found the light show distracting. So I sold it.
But it was fun to build!

I've picked it up off the magazine rack plenty of times. Its a good mag for experienced folk.

I built my first PC, off an article in the magazine PcUpgrade... They build a PC in every mag, and go over the details, problems, etc.. Its a good read. I've not been able to find it on the shelf for quite a while here in Indy...

i kind of enjoy when people send in their questions about current builds. I don't know why but i like that. I usually like to read the column by Rahul Sood
