i know i'll probly get a lot of stern warnings and stares for this but anyway:

having no time to go and get myself a good IWB i decided to pack mexican style, empty chamber, hammer cocked, safety off.

it's quite comfortable and concealable, and in all my walking around, the hammer has stayed cocked, never fell.

i'm beginning to think this is the best way to carry, especially when one really has to be discreet about it, and have to sometimes place the piece on a bag, an empty holster would be a giveaway.

  2. where do you slip it in? By your side, up front, sob?

Aren't you irritated by metal parts rubbing your skin?

How about the grip safety? Doesn't it stab you when you bend over or something? ^8

just stick it into your waistband, i do it on the strongside, right side. straight drop.

the bt doesn't bother me, the sharp thumb safety does though a bit, that'll be fixed when i put in a slim ed brown one

It won't be that discreet if one day your 1911 will come falling out of your pants. Just get a simple clip-on holster (Uncle Mike's or local version), if you want the ease of taking off the holster with the gun. I assure you it will be a lot more comfortable. :)

That style of carry is also hard on the finish especially on blued guns, not to mention getting oil on your clothes and skin.:)

    Yikes, Zorkd,
Too many things seem so wrong with that kind of carry, holsterless IWB,
    hammer cocked, safety off...

The safety could get switched on without your knowing it, screwing you
when you need to draw and charge/rack the pistol FAST; the trigger
could theoretically get dragged by folds of denim as you move/sit,
dropping the hammer and biting you; the whole pistol could easily
slip down to where you can't draw it, or worse, all the way down your
pants leg... there's more... much more that could go wrong.

Ang daming mga local holster na nagkalat for P200 to P300 (US$4 to
US$6) in brown or black leather, synthetic, PVC or fabric,
configured for IWB front, IWB back, IWB canted, open high and open
low carry, et cetera... that'd serve you better than skinnying
the thing, until you can get whatever you really want at this
    Gun Show or the next.

I remember RO 'Cute' at PB Dionisio Firing Range, demonstrating his
    Pinoy-Mexican high-noon, holsterless 'deep-concealment' carry
    of a fullsize 1911 housegun.

I'm not ever renting that 1911 again, not without RO Edgar
first stripping the thing down and cleaning it several times.
    With bleach and Betadine.

I think seeing that horror was actually what made me buy my own 1911
to use. There's no way Cute is demonstrating ANYTHING with mine.
