Hi everyone, I don't buy/shoot many rifles, so I need everyone's help. My mother-in-law asked my wife and I to help her pick out a bolt-action rifle for her husband's birthday this weekend. He needs it to kill coyotes and bobcats on his land. Her budget's top limit is $600. My only problem is, because of the current upsurge in purchases, there aren't many caliber options available that are best suited for coyotes. My brother recommended that I try to find one chambered in 22-250, but that has been unsuccessful. I was hoping you all could help me compile a list of 2 or 3 alternatives to 22-250 that I could use when looking for a rifle for her to get? The caliber choices I have been coming across are mostly 7mm Rem Mag, 30-06, 270, and 308. I figured the 7mm and the 30-06 would be a little too much for this purpose, especially if he needed to quickly engage in a follow-up shot. Thanks for the help!
