The sound doesn't work in my new computer. The motherboard has onboard sound, so I installed the drivers from the cd that came with it. I've got the speakers turned on and plugged into the correct spot. The volume is turned up...but still no sound. Any ideas?

I would also check the BIOS and make sure the On Board Sound is "Enabled".

Also try windows update, you may get a newer driver from there or even the MB maker.

let us know if this gets you anywhere.

    1) Don't assume the speaker isn't to blame
    2) Check all volume settings to make certain it isn't muted
    3) BIOS
    3) Jumpers (do they still have those??)

Check the device manager to see if the driver installed correctly. Go to, select Run, and type devmgmt.msc. See if you have any devices with a question mark by them. If you do, you probably have a driver issue.
