Budget Question

Discussion in 'GATE Self-Defense Forum' started by SMSgt (Ret), Aug 25, 2010.

  1. Mas:

Thanks again for all your insights. I have one carry gun right now. A Glock 19. I like this gun and it fills most all my needs. Also am on a budget which precludes buying many new guns. Need your advise. Should I buy a second used 19 as a backup, or if possible, buy a Glock 30 which I can also use as a winter gun. Really the winters in my part of Va are not bad and I don't knowif a 45 is a must. Just looking to pick your brains. What is your opinion of the 30?

    Thanks,

    B

It's really a coin toss, Sarge. It never hurts to have a backup copy of your favorite pistol. But it also never hurts to have a 9mm AND a .45.

The Glock 30 is one of my favorites. Amazingly accurate for its size, and soft-shooting for its weight and power level. It is somewhat thicker than the 19 and will generally need different holsters and magazine pouches. You'll also need extra magazines, of course, and the ammo is more expensive...always a consideration with a budget to stick to. Another G19 will work with the same holsters, mags, and pouches you've already accumulated.

Frankly, I don't think you'll go wrong either way.

Don't mean to seem indecisive; it's just that it's too close for a third party to call.

    Best,
    Mas

  3. Thanks Mas:

I think I will go with whichever I can get best deal on.

  4. Mas:

Thanks again for your input. I have been offered a Kahr CW9 from a friend who is moving and cannot take gun with him. It has been through the break in period and has about 250 flawless rounds (ball and HP) through it. The price is right and better than for the two glocks mentioned above.

I know you have reviewed this dealer before. I trust your judgement and wondered if I could buy this gun with confidence.

He is the first and only owner and the gun is in great shape.

They are sure are a Jewel to carry.

    Thanks,

I've had very good luck with the Kahr 9mms, and so have most of my students. I've also found the company's customer support to be quite good. I'd say, "Go for it!"
    best,
    Mas
