    Hello All,

Just can't believe that I went through 600 rounds after buying my first GLOCK 19 start of this year. Talk about 'trigger happy'..

Today in the evening, I bought Winchester 9mm value pack (100 rounds) at Walmart for $22.00. Anyone knows if there are cheaper rounds available than these??

Also, what do I buy for as self defense or 115gr good enough?

    Cheers:cheers:
    Sandy.

That's a good deal. For defense, the Federal HST or Speer Gold Dots are good ammo.

If you're going to start a thread about ammo @ Wally World, you have to post pics of your wife and/or girlfriend. Forum rules.

you can use monarch ammo, steel case i think is 7.99.... They had a sale on brass case last week for 7.99, I bought ~700 rounds. Besides that blazer brass and federal at WW is ~9.87 a box.

It won't do much good as the sale is already over but last week, Academy Sports had Monarch Brass 9mm for $7.99 a box. After taxes, it was $43.25 for 250rds. The store had a limit of 5 boxes though. Regular price is 9.99 for steel case and 11.99 for brass case.

Hopefully they'll run more sales like this in the future.

edit; gdirty beat me by 4min!

At least your Walmart has ammo. The shelves on ours has nothing but tumbleweeds blowing across them. :brickwall:

Please do not use WWB FMJ for SD. Shoot a hollow point of any brand or type before shooting a FMJ (ball) ammo. For the sake of yourself, and the potential unintentional victims after getting over penetration.

I bought some at the Sterling Walmart in July for $19.97/box, before tax. If your $22/box price if before tax then it looks like WM is starting to raise prices a bit.

I try to keep an eye on prices locally and on the web and even at $22/box I think you're getting a pretty good price compared to what is available.

For self defense ammo I like Speer Gold Dot in 124gr +P. Pretty much any of the popular HP loadings will be fine. I recommend that you stay away from the 20 round "consumer" boxes of whatever self defense round you choose and try to find a seller that stocks the 50 round boxes that are typically marketed to LE agencies. The 50 round LE boxes usually go for about the same price as the 20 round consumer boxes.

I like GA Arms as well as the next person but I have never seen their canned heat for less than WWB or Blazer from Walmart. Never. And I do have some 9mm canned heat stored away. ETA. You do get your canned heat delivered in a real ammo box so once you figure that into the cost your probably at break even compared to WM.

I also have some .357mag and .38sp Gold Dots from GA Arms as they had a pretty good price on these rounds compared to similar offerings from Speer. You might want to check out GA Arms for your self defense rounds. But it seems like for the past year or so you have to hit them just right when they get in components and get your order in before they run out. Timing is everything.
