I'm wondering how this even makes the news.

The better question would be - how does a CEO allow this many "extra" people onto the payroll in the first place?
I will bet you that some of the people that are losing their jobs were hired in the last 6 months.
In these cases the CEO should be fired for not managing the business.
Didn't we have someone post an article about the administration telling defense contractors to wait until after the election to cut jobs? I thought I remember reading an article here about that.

the really big lay off is coming jan 2 2013. about 20%+ of government and contract workers tied into defense. well...they voted for it. oh ye suckers!
