I just picked up a very minty 7-shot Defender (wood furniture, bead front, not imported from Turkey) and would like to get an honest opinion to its value. Condition is easily 98%.

    Downside?
I paid exactly $375 for it BUT it looked so nice I had to have it!

  2. If your happy with the purchase that is all that matters. For a used gun, you did pay too much for it.

I would pay more for a lightly used older Winchester shot gun VS a new one.

The older Winchester is much higher quality compared to the crap being churned out today.

Other than two tiny (1/4 inch long) wear marks to each side of slide (normal) it looks brand new.

While the grain is average for "Ranger" type wood, it is perfect with zero dings, scratches, etc.

Aliminum receiver & bolt free of any blemishes.

I see tons of field Ranger 1300's (26-28 inch tubes) but few Defenders in my area.

I may take a slight hit if I trade it in the future but I was just curious as to the going price for one in above excellent condition.

    Thanks!

Those are fantastic shot guns. My dad has the same one. He's had it since 97' or so.

$375 is a decent price but a little on the high side. You won't be disappointed though.
