so a guy in my office and I just made a bet. He says there are not 3 production cars made that will go 160 mph off the show room floor. I say there are more- many more. He added the word "production" after the initial discussion got underway. So - how about it.

references or links would be helpful. I am pretty sure I am right here. What cars will go 160MPH + right off the show room floor?

There's plenty of others that would top out above 160, including Cadillacs, many Mercedes, many BMW, Audi, Jaguar, etcetera, etcetera, were they to have their speed governors removed. 160 isn't much of a feat anymore.

The speed limiter on my '99 Trans Am WS6 is set to 167mph.
A new PCM or a tool such as a power programmer can increase or remove it.

It will go well over 167 off the showroom floor after a tweak.

from the factory on a full production car ... PORSCHE is one of a few that arent speed Governed to 155mph as US law states

    i highly doubt

    saleen s7 twin turbo 260mph
    Bugatti Veyron 16.4 253mph
    Koenigsegg CCR 242mph
    spyker c8 double 12 s 215mph
    evans 487 206mph
ford gt 205mph - borderline production

are FULL production cars ... but they will top 160MPH with ease!

Yeah, starting in '93, the F-bodies introduced the masses to 160+ mph off the showroom floor. There were many cars that hit those speeds earlier of course, but the Z28, Firebird V8, and Trans Am were probably the first ones under 40 grand....certainly the first in the low 20's. There's a lot of much more sophisticated sports cars today that still can't touch their raw performance.

thanks everyone... he did eliminate most of the ones listed

    saleen s7 twin turbo 260mph
    Bugatti Veyron 16.4 253mph
    Koenigsegg CCR 242mph
    spyker c8 double 12 s 215mph
    evans 487 206mph
    ford gt 205mph
    etc...

under his definition of "production" and he said if it was electronically limited at 155 then it did not qualify as he stressed "must be able to do 160 directly as is from the show room floor",

He still conceded the bet. I found enough that qualified.
