Traded some guns a while ago and got a Gen 1 G17L as part of the trade. Wife wishes to swap me a Gen 3 G34 for the G17L so as to not have me mod it. I am adding an aftermarket beavertail (slide bite problems when I hold gun properly) and the want to get an aftermarket barrel so I can shoot lead and plated bullets without a problem. How good are the Lonewolf barrels? What other mods should I do? Been thinking about trigger, mag release and possible slide cuts. Need some sort of high visibility sights as my eyes are going and I can't make out standard sights anymore even with corrective lenses. No longer running and gunning due to arthritis but I still enjoy shooting guns when I can, so no real race gun features needed/desired. Any constructive input thankfully accepted.

Ive had/have both. Id take a 34 over the 17l due to its size mostly. I routinely put regular mag releases on long release guns. Any site you can see the front with will work fine. Both my 34s shoot really well. the 17l shot well but not that well.

Any lw barrel is better for lead, however if you cast hard and clean well stock is fine. for lead. soft lead will lead to a blowup.

Vanek Classic trigger, Ameriglo Pro Glo Tritium front sight with plain black rear, KKM barrel, stainless guide rod with a 15# spring, 4.5# firing pin spring for a nice range gun and defensive shooting. If you do more precision shooting use a small fiber optic front sight with a plain black rear sight. Happy shooting.

I have a lone wolf and really like it. i took the extended slide lock off due to my thumbs riding it and not getting LRHO. Took off the finger grooves, then a pinpoint stipple job and then put the serrated beaver tail on it and the smooth one on my 17 Gen 1, then put my infamous and enormously expensive bicycle inner tube slip over grips so the bottom edge of the Grip Force's didn't aggravate my hand, worked perfect as it has on all my Gen 3's with finger grooves.

a set of TFO's on the 34/35 and only a front TFO with blacked out rear on the 17 as it is still in my carry rotation and for SD/HD i've been taught "Front sight, Front sight, Front sight" the TFO exceeded all my expectations for my old eyes. at $100 for the ones with tritium they are not too pricey, but they have just the light pipes like i have on my bird shotguns cheap, for Glocks.

    Roadkill,
Unless they have changed the warranty on the TFO sights is only 90 days and they have poor service. And the one on the rear distracts from front sight, front sight, front sight.

Thanks for the input. Will check out the KKM barrels site. I already have a "-" Glock factory 3.5 Lb connector in this gun so will see waht other trigger mods I may make. Some of the pretty stuff on GlockStore looks interesting. Will see if anymore people add their $0.05 worth to this discussion.
