On the weekend, we were trying out a Buddies Benelli M4 Tactical with some Federal Trap Loads, & about every four or five rnds the bolt wouldn't cycle properly ! Either it wouldn't e ject the fired case at all, or the bolt would sit in a half open position & need to be racked manually ! The shotgun was clean & lubricated before we started, any suggestions ?

    Shoot it more.
    It may get better.
It really is meant for buckshot and slugs.

Mine will choke on trap loads if I'm not holding it firmly.

Does it function 100% with buck and slugs? If it does, it's doing its job, and there's nothing to be concerned with.

It's not cycling them because it's not designed to shoot light loads. Benelli M4's are combat shotguns, made to shoot full power, high brass loads. It's not the gun, it's the ammo.

    Yeah, big suprise there.
Go get some promotional 1 1/4 ounce 3 3/4 dram equivilent field loads and see if the functioning doesn't improve.HTH
