I know many of you saw my recent thread about vintage Hi-Powers. Here it is if you missed it.

    http://www.glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1436998

Anyway, the first one arrived at my dealer today and I just picked it up. Its the 1960 version and its beautiful in every way. The quality of these pistols was incredible 50 years ago. The parts fitting, the bluing, and attention to detail is so much nicer than the 10 year old Portuguese model I own. As I've stated, the Hi Power has my vote as the 2nd best looking pistol ever built. I put the 1911 at the top, but the HP is a very close 2nd and I think it certainly looks better than many 1911 variations. It just a very sleek, elegant pistol and these early internal extractor models exemplify that.

The Browning Hi Power is my favorite 9mm of all time and I felt the need to add some examples of the best to my collection.

This one was listed as unfired and after inspection, but I believe that was accurate.

    Thoughts?

Please enjoy the pics. I love the bluing on this model. Its one of the best looking pistols I've ever seen, let alone own. Look how perfect the 52 year old walnut grips are as well. Its an amazing specimen. It really is. As you can see, its got the original leather pouch and all.

I know I bought some much higher end pistols this month and even one of my holy grail guns. However, this may be my personal favorite out of everything I bought this year.

I just love this gun. :)

That makes the one I looked at this week not so appealing.

Congrats on another beautiful pistol bac!

  4. Absolutely beautiful! I agree, best 9mm ever designed, IMO.

    Beautiful,

You know you have seen too many BAC pictures when you find yourself going " did he change the color of his carpet?"

What a beautiful pistol. I came within a hair's breadth of buying one about 25 years ago, and regret not doing so to this day.

Guys, do any of you know what the markings are above the trigger and again right above the slide stop?

I'll have to take a closeup pic, but the markings are about the same in both spots.

    Absolutely stunning! Congratulations!

My brother has two beautiful old Hi Powers that have Syrian crest on them. I think the HP is the best 9mm as well!

He also has a British marked Inglis HP. We love our Hi Powers!

The bluing on that one is superb. You sir have exceptional taste in firearms, and I am in the wrong line of work.
