He won't really have much of the same opportunity. The debate on Tuesday is in a different format.

  6. Don't discount Obama. People were saying that Ryan would mop the floor with Biden and that wasn't the case. Biden did himself in with very little help from Ryan. Biden did however do what he was sent in to do, shore up the base who were upset with Obama's performance in the first Presidential debate. Obama's goal will be to further shore up the base and prevent any more defections.

Obama getting tough will play to his base who are operating on emotion. They want to see someone get angry and yell at Republicans. It won't matter if that yelling/attack involves lying or a lack of substance. The left is angry and they will want Obama to show that anger. If Obama does that then they will consider it a win.

He's been running tv ads here repeating the $5 trillion in tax cuts lie that's already been disproven. He had Biden repeat lies about Libya that had been disproven a day before. The jobs report has been exposed as missing California, but there's absolutely no way he won't ignore the truth and tout the drop as proof of his "success" in turning things around. I think internal polling is showing that he's going to lose so he has nothing to lose by compounding his smear tactics with the other half of a communist disinformation campaign - outrageously obvious lies.

Well, there is a lot of pressure on Obama to do well in this debate.

What in Obama's history would suggest that he can perform under that kind of pressure?

I heard he was being pressed to inject Bain Capital into the discussion. That should be interesting, seeing how the topic is supposed to be foreign policy.

Romney should forget about his great performance in the first debate and hit Obama hard - take no prisoners! The Libya mess and the White House response is a really big target to go after.
