44 years of watching wildlife shows I have never seen anything like that. Very cool.
I was expecting a joke or something.
I agree... that was cool.
At first I thought it was a large fish, but I think I heard the guy in the background say "large nutria"? (Which is kinda like a big muskrat).
Wow. Very neat. What was the object in the water?
/besides the eagle
I've seen Eagles in Alaska do this when they grab a salmon that turns out to be too big to fly away with. Though it always involved more sort of wild flapping, as they tried to take off and failed. This was much more orderly and dignified.
Super cool, though.
That is one of the most awesome things I've ever seen.
Pretty smart bird.
Footage was taken at Mallard Lakes subdivision in Baton Rouge . Someone had shot a nutria, and it was floating dead in the water.
.......... I thought it was a joke also, definitely cool
Must have missed that part. I am a fan of your use of Comic Sans, though.
I recall seeing that show, years back, on Comedy Central featuring Dave Atell. They (he and the local sheriff or police division) were out late at night doing "rodent removal" and shooting these huge rats from the back of a pick-up along a waterway (as I recall). Some of them seemed as big as a normal dog, so it's not surprising that it was too heavy for the bird.
