AZ property suitable for a prepper

    Never thought of Show Low as "northeastern".

    But it's a beautiful spread.

    I know the area. The house and other buildings look great. I can confirm that the ground water in that area is very good.

    The price seems fair too.

    A couple of questions come to mind....

    First, is it far enough from town and neighbors to have its own shooting range? I'm guessing not, because such a feature would be promoted for sure. On the other hand, it is kind of convenient to be relatively close to town.

    Second, why are they selling such a great set up? Strategically, the only region that sounds much better to me is around Idaho/Wyoming. So where do they go from here? And why?

    It's 40 acres and I have seen photos that Dean has posted of shooting taking place on the property.

    Got it. Moving to a place that attracts them emotionally. And leaving the altitude of Show Low. It's not really that high ( I'm guessing around 6000 feet.) But high enough to seriously bother a few people.

    Not really a Strategic Relocation. But at that age, go where you like. :cool:

    How is the illegals/drug lord situation in the northern parts of the border states these days? I can imagine what TX and CA are like, but I dont know AZ and NM well.

    Illegals are everywhere, but the issues with alien smuggling (robberies, kidnappings, burglaries, etc) are far more prevalent in the southern portion of the state.

    Here is a photo taken this weekend at Parker Canyon Lake in southern AZ. About six miles north of the border.

    Same with the drugs. Once the cartels successfully get it across the border it is going to be on the major highways heading to other states.

    When we talk about "just build the damn wall" out here, we mean a "wall", not some flimsy chain link fencing and sheets of tin. Here is a photo from this past weekend at the US/MX border in Naco AZ.

    Hi everyone. Thanks to Brian for posting our place in the classified section.

    Our place is roughly 45 miles south of Holbrook, Arizona and about 40-50 miles west of the New Mexico border about 4 miles north of Hwy 60. Our closest neighbor is about 1 mile away as thecrow flies. There is about a 70' hi embankment running thru our place as we are in a little valley, Shooting, horses, chickens and anything similar is perfectly OK.

    Several of the neat things about our place is the absolute silence except for the Coyotes and Elk. At nite the Milkey Way is bright enough so that no flashlight is needed. It is the ultimate 100% off-grid completely independent place. The back up Propane, Auto Start generator only ran 4 or 5 hours in the last two years. The guest house has 8 beds, the adjacent "Casita" has a queen size Murphy bed.

    There is so much more, any questions, let me know.

    Thanks Brian for the post and link.

    I now can answer any questions that you all might have.

    No illegals up here, over 200 miles to the mexican border.

    We are located about 45 miles south of Holbrook on I 40 and about 50 miles west of the New Mexico border about 4 miles south of Hwy 60 and about 12 miles east of Show Low at an elevation of 6,300'. 100% solar powered with an Auto-Start propane fueled Gen Set. Our solar set up is so good that only about 5 or so hours of the generator were required in the last two years.

    The water is the best I have ever had and plentful. Lots of room for animals and perfect locations for a greenhouse, not my thing however. Along the north west portion of the property is a bout a 70' high enbankment as we are in a little valley. Yes we do our share of shooting with no neighbors nearby.

    A friend of mine from England, first time shooting anything.

    Not to hijack but a wall doesn't solve anything.

    1) Last I heard the cost was going to be around $10 billion dollars. I realize in the post Bush/Now Obama era this number is peanuts compared to the Trillions these two a** clowns threw around but its still $10 billion. Plus you and I know any federal estimate of $10 billion will be more like $100-$150 billion. Hell, the army just spent $5 billion on developing a camo pattern most graphic designers have openly admitted could have been done for $100,000

    2) This cost doesn't include maintance. You know some Congressman will ask it be painted to make it less unsightly. Damage from illegals and the cartels will cost tens if not hundreds of millions each year.

    3) A wall doesn't prevent tunneling - no matter how far down you go...a tunnel can go farther.

    4) A wall doesn't stop our government from giving illegals free or discounted tuition, health care and other handouts

    5) A wall doesn't stop businesses from employing these people

    Now back to the property - awesome place. I propose every regular poster on the S&P forum chips in and we buy the place. I eat light.

    All, from a prepper's standpoint, all you really need is a bunker and you'll be set.

    Well, I have good news, for us at least.

    Sold our place yesterday, Sunday, got what we wanted, cash.

    The people buying our place are some of the nicest and most appreciative we could ever ask for, someone that will love and respect what our place truly is.
