This thread on .22 LR and airguns gives some good feedback on Armscor rifles in general.

I'd also be interested in knowing how good the quality of their rifles is. Also, what advantages does one get with a bolt action instead of a semi-auto with respect to rifles?

Ammunition fired in bolt action rifles have higher velocities and energy than the same rounds fired in semi-auto/full auto weapons because of former's locked breech. All the pressures generated inside the barrel are used to drive the bullet out of the barrel resulting in higher velocity and energy. Gas-actions uses part of this pressure to cycle the gun's action resulting in slower velocities.

You can enjoy both worlds in M-14. You can manually lock the gun's gas action in favor of a bolt-action operation.

darwin, if you shut out the das system in an m14, do you have to manually release the spent cartridge? Or will the case eject on its own? How simple or difficult would it be to close down the system?

Yes. Its the gas action that works the rifle's action. If you shut it, you would have manually work the bolt ala bolt-action rifles. Just turn the screw( where there's a green circle in the picture)180 degree and you will lock/unlock the gas action of the rifle.
