I try to go at least once a year but thinking of skipping it this year just because of all the panic buying. I like to renew with the NRA there and get in free. So what do you think? why or why not? http://www.thenationsgunshow.com/

I may go to see if there are any ammo deals. Looking for .308 and 5.56 battle packs or some of Hornday's new defense ammo.

I was chatting with a J&T Distributing Rep and he was not sure if they would make the show due to inventory shortages. Can't sell what they don't have.

  3. Yes, but mostly just to pick up some original 1863 Springfield parts.

And maybe a glock shot glass.

  4. If you're looking for ammo probably best to go Friday or early Saturday. I purchased one of the last cases of 9mm late Saturday morning at the show in November. I'm guessing that it will be the same this time too now that "0-the chosen" has been sworn in.

i'm looking for some mags for my glock 22, and some ammo. My buddy is looking for a Glock 21, full size model. And ammo...

My other buddy is just going to browse..although he hopes to make it out without a new long gun. LOL

edit: also, we plan on going early on saturday!

I will probably go Friday afternoon/evening for a while. I need to replace a holster [paddle] I bought in November, plus generally window shop.

question. Do the dealers take credit cards? How do they do background checks? Phone? Or laptop with internet access?

back to the credit card question, is it one of those old school sliding machines where they basically have a carbon copy of your credit card? or is it like an actual credit card machine hooked up to a phone line?

    Thanks!

Yes most major gun and ammo dealers take credit cards. Jerry's, Dark Sun, Guns & Ammo Warehouse, J&T Distributors, etc.

Most dealers are running credit cards through electronic systems, some still use paper. Some dealers add a 3% charge for using a credit card.

All dealers are running real time criminal checks through the Virginia State Police and FBI's gun show systems using wireless laptops authorized to access their gun check systems a few call in, but can take forever. There are Class III firearms and accessories that can be purchased, but you will not be able to take them with you until your ATF paperwork is completed (takes about 2 to 3 months).

As you can tell, at least the Chantilly show is pretty much a modern "real-time" environment using the latest technologies.

There is also an ATM near the front door.... but it runs out of cash by mid Saturday if not sooner.

looking to pick up a g26 at the show and meet up with Gary's Guns since i spoke with him about getting one. I'm sure all the prices on ammo, mags, and firearms are even higher than the last time they came to town in Nov.

Wouldn't mind picking up a krinkov but will see how much they go for now.

The best deals on a full size G21 might be at Dark Sun or Jerry's Gun Trader. Gun & Ammo Warehouse is usually about $50 to $75 above them.

Anyone that goes to the show today, could you report back on what types of sales there are on 9mm ammo. Thanks.

I thought last November's show was a mad house, but today was even more. I have never seen so many people trying to get in. It was worth the $25.00 to renew my NRA membership to avoid the long lines. Since you get in for free when you do the NRA renewal it was the best way to get in.

I picked up a couple of .308 battle packs for $100 and a new 5.5" S&W 22A (steel model) for $250.00. The prices for 1911 and Glocks are out of sight. At these prices, it now seems to make more sense to buy from Bud's or something like GunBroker and transfer them in. Less pushing, you can drink a beer chating with your broker and take your time.

I can't even guess what Saturday is going to be like.

I had the day off and went to the show also on Friday. I got there early (2:50) or so i thought and there were two lines both going from the front and rapping around ether side of the building I was glad I needed to renew my NRA membership I saved $10 on a membership got in the show free and 45min faster than some people I meet in the parking lot. I saw ammo going out by the hand truck load. I saw Glocks going from $489 to $600+ only a few 19's and 23's. I bought a Stack-on safe for my work vehicle and a Glock coffee mug, its a slow time of year for me so I was not looking to spend much.
