I have an ar15 Le colt carbine with 16"barrel 1/7 twist.
Any suggestions for a load for 68 gr bthp using varget powder?
All the manuals have different powders...confused...

With my 16" 1-7 Noveske bbl, i shot several test groups with varget a few months back. Loads were made with 25.4, 25.7, and 26gr. Velocity difference between each batch was negilible. (~2750fps each). cci 400 primers.

Work it up yourself from minimum. 5 loads at .3-.5 increments, check for accuracy, pick your best and adjust from there. Varget loads in several of the manuals I have, tend to be on the max side listed for best accuracy.
I settled on 25.4g of Varget at 2.260 OAL using a 69 SMK for my R700 SPS Tactical in .223 (1-9 twist) this load easily makes inside .5 MOA at 100 yards and it's crazy how accurate it is at 500-600.

I shoot a 69 grain Matchking with 25.7 grains of Varget - outstanding accuracy for me.

This load is on the top end of the data... start lower and work up checking for pressure signs.

Keep the long ones inside 2.260" OAL and you'll be fine... I'm using Winchester brass and CCI small rifle primers (non-magnum).

25.5 for me. The most accurate I have tried other than Vhit N135. Fills the case right up the bottom of the neck.

And when I use 55s, it is the powder charge so no need to change anything other than seating depth.
