I saw a video a while ago that really stood out to me. It was of a 55 grain hp through a series of two dry wall boards mounted to studs to simulate a wall. I distinctly remember that the AR had much less penetration than the 9mm round. I searched Youtube this morning for a half an hour and couldn't find it. Can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks,

    Rick

I think that the one that I am looking for is this Best Defense video, BUT every time I try to watch it, I get a message that says that I have to update my video player. I just installed the latest Adobe Flash player but it still doesn't work. What flash player do I need to watch this? Maybe because I just updated I need to turn my machine off and reboot and then try again. I'll try that and see if that fixes it.

Depends on how your house was constructed- most new build homes - plan on it going through a wall or two! Old house maybe not even one wall. Concrete/sinder block walls - nope. Worry more about hitting the BG worry not about how many walls the bullets go through. Cause if your dead it will not matter one bit!

40 grain V-Max projectiles will fragment after 2 sheets of dry wall.

They can also give inadequate penetration into the BG. The V-max projectiles were designed for extremely fast expansion for varmints.

Can anyone get this link to load? I've upgraded my flash player and it still says that I need to upgrade my flash player. I would love to see this link if possible. Other videos from the site load and play just fine, just not this one.

The 60 gr VMax is used in the Tap line of LEO ammo. Better penertration then the 40 gr. My choice for HD/SD is either the 69 gr SMK or 63 gr SEI SP. But I now have the option of use the 300 BLK which I'm sure will be head and shoulders above anything the 5.56mm can offer. Either the 125gr NBT's or Speer 130 gr HP will be my chioce in that weapon! :)

Have you seen the .308 shot at 10 feet with no over penetration on ballistic gel? Its a dedicated HD rifle round.

I'm sure the 60gr is head and shoulders better than the 40gr, but I still vastly prefer the heavy OTM and SP loads. I keep most of my mags loaded with 75gr TAP 5.56, with a mag or two of M855 for good measure.
