I've had a few people ask me about putting on a night IDPA match in October. It would be at the Green River Gun Club in Bowling Green. It would probably be on a Saturday night.

I am trying to determine if enough people are interested in doing this. A hand held flashlight is a requirement. What say you?

In case there are a few people that aren't afraid of the dark the night match will be October 24th. Check the website in October for details.

Update: Prizes will be awarded at the night match.

ElZetta is donating a ZFL-M60 tactical weapon light to be given away at the match. Be sure and support companies that support the shooting sports.

We will also have at least four pocket knives on the prize table. We are planning on adding more prizes also.

According to IDPA rules all prizes will be awarded at random.

Would this match be ok for a newbie? I've been wanting to try this for quite a while and this one might work out schedule-wise for me.

Everyone that doesn't have a IDPA classification card will be given a New Shooter Orientation. We want everyone to be safe and have a good time so the orientation is mandatory.

As long as your gun handling is safe and you listen to the Safety Officer you shouldn't have a problem.

ETA: Reading the rules before the match would be a big help:

Match fee is only $15. We will also have our new club shirts for sale for $10.

  8. This does sound rather interesting. Might just have to make the roadtrip. Never shot a full night shoot with IDPA. When do you estimate we will be done?

I'm guessing around 9:30pm CST. We normally run a pretty efficient match. We will have enough SO's available that we can break up into five squads if need be. Also we won't be asking for tear-down help since we will be doing that Sunday morning.

ETA: I e-mailed the stage scenarios to you. It should be a fun match.

Reminder. The match is this coming Saturday October 24th. Several prizes on the table and only a $15 match fee. Prizes awarded at random.

Be sure and get there before 5pm. The Shooters Meeting, IDPA Orientation, and Prize Table will all be before dark.

The match will be at the first range you come to going down the hill. Please BACK your car into the parking lot, that way if anyone has to leave early their headlights won't be annoying.

In the unlikely event the match has to be canceled due to weather check the website at noon on Saturday.

I want to thank all you guys and gals that came out for the match. Everybody was safe and helpful. It was a lot of fun.

I also want to thank ElZetta for helping us promote the match. It is much appreciated. Kemp E from Nashville, TN was the lucky winner of the ElZetta ZFL-M60 tactical weapon light. He used it in the match and did great!
